Former After School Scholar Student
Attending to the The After School Scholar program was one of my favorite places to go as a kid. At first, I was unsure of what to expect, but it quickly became one of my favorite parts of the day. Let me tell you why this program is so great and impactful in many ways.

 

First of all, the place has a huge, outdoor play area. It’s fun for both younger kids and older ones too. Whether you’re into sports, games, or just hanging out, there’s something for everyone. I remember the first time I walked into the play area and saw all the different activities going on. It was so lively and just a good environment to be in. The open space means there’s always room for everyone, and you never feel cramped or crowded.

 

Another important portion of it is the assistance with homework. I can’t even begin to explain how much it helped me. Balancing schoolwork with extracurricular activities can be tough but having a dedicated time and support to get my homework done turned out to be a game-changer. There are always teachers and older students available to help with any subject. I remember struggling with my math homework one day and feeling completely lost. I didn’t want to fall behind, so I decided to ask for help. One of the tutors sat down with me and went through the problems step by step. They were patient and explained everything in a way that made sense. I remember the homework help improved my grades and reduced my stress levels.

 

But honestly the best part of The After School Scholar was the chance to meet kids from different schools. Before joining the program, most of my friends were from my own school, and I didn’t have many opportunities to meet new people. The program brings together students from all over the area. Even after all these years I am still close with someone I met there. We go to different schools, and I doubt we would have ever met if it weren’t for the program. We even go to each other’s football games and other school events to see each other more. I met some of her friends too and it’s like having a whole new social circle, and it’s made my high school experience so much more fun.

 

In conclusion, The After School Scholar was an amazing experience for me. The big open play area, the homework help, and the opportunity to meet kids from different schools have all contributed to making it such a memorable experience. It was a place where I could relax, have fun, and grow both academically and socially. I highly recommend checking out this program. You won’t regret it!
